Dän Bakery & Café is one of those places that doesn’t fully make sense until you’re eating something you couldn’t have predicted. The ownership has Kazakh and Central Asian roots, the pastry tradition leans European, and the La Colombe coffee is good enough to anchor the trip.

The Honey Cake is the signature — order it. The San Sebastian Cheesecake and Pistachio Roll are worth knowing about. The savory side is more substantial than you’d expect from a bakery: Palau, syrniki, omelets. This isn’t just somewhere to stop for a croissant.
